About The Position

Senior/Staff Embedded Software Engineer - C++ (San Diego, CA) You will work on the development of Intravascular Ultrasound Systems. As a member of an international cross-functional team, you work closely together with electrical engineers, transducer engineers, software engineers, system engineers, and ultrasound engineers. Your role: Being a key contributor to the development of medical capital equipment. Architect, design, and develop embedded software for intravascular ultrasound systems. Interfacing with multi-disciplinary teams consisting of marketing, hardware, software, catheter design, and manufacturing to refine design requirements for next generation intravascular ultrasound devices. Create software requirement specifications, software architecture documents, and detailed software design documents. Design and debug firmware for embedded processors, microcontrollers, digital signal processors, and other electronic components using C/C++. Generating and releasing design documentation per production development procedures. Leading, generating and conducting formal verification and validation plans for completed designs in collaboration with Quality and Regulatory. Conducting technical design reviews with the project team(s) and independent subject matter experts across the company.

Requirements

  • 5 + years' experience in software/firmware development preferably in the field of medical electronics.
  • Industry experience creating detailed design documentation (specifications, design descriptions, verification and testing plans).
  • BS/MS in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, or related field.
  • Experience with C/C++ (design and coding) for embedded applications.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both oral and written, in order to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with persons contacted in the course of performing assigned duties including Company management and outside business associates
  • You must be able to successfully perform the following minimum Physical, Cognitive and Environmental job requirements with or without accommodation for this position.
  • US work authorization is a precondition of employment.
  • For this position, you must reside in or within commuting distance to San Diego, CA.

Nice To Haves

  • FreeRTOS experience will be preferred.
  • Familiarity with cardiac and vascular catheterization procedures, tools, and terminology desired.
  • Knowledge of digital signal and image processing would be a plus.
