The work location of this role is hybrid, meaning it will be performed both from home and from a LinkedIn office on select days, as determined by the business needs of the team. This role will be based in New York, NY. Team & Role Overview: As a Senior Staff AI Engineer (L7 - Senior Technical Lead) at LinkedIn Ads you will be responsible for leading a team of engineers who build and own algorithms, models, and systems that power our LinkedIn ad tech platform. We are looking to experiment with and implement GenAI solutions to build new ad-creative variations which can yield better ROI for our advertisers. This can include written content, images, and video content. This role will provide technical and thought leadership for GAI spanning multiple work streams and a team of 15-20 total engineers.

Requirements

  • At least two years as a Technical Lead, Staff Engineer, Principal Engineer, or equivalent.
  • 5+ years of overall industry experience in AI or Machine Learning Engineering.
  • BA/BS Degree in Computer Science or related technical discipline or equivalent practical experience

Nice To Haves

  • 10+ years of overall industry/research experience in AI and/or Machine Learning.
  • PhD in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, or a related field
  • Expert-level understanding of leading Generative AI (GAI) solutions, along with deep expertise in topics such as model selection and deep learning / reinforcement learning and their application to model training in language-based environments.
  • Strong programming skills in Python and relevant deep learning frameworks (e.g., PyTorch).
  • Proven ability to build models that accurately interpret and follow complex, nuanced instructions (zero-shot or few-shot).
  • Prior experience in the Ads domain.

Responsibilities

  • Develop a strategy for a new technical foundation based on using AI/LLMs to innovate in ad formats.
  • Design a technical solution that enables the organization to A/B test new ad formats and placements quickly and iterate.
  • Evangelize the use of LLMs and AI in software development in the broader organization.
  • Collaborate with Media, Video and Events teams on generating new clips and ad variations to test as ads.
  • Drive key decisions related to model selection, training, evaluation, and fine tuning.
  • Provide technical leadership and mentorship to a team of engineers, fostering a culture of innovation and excellence.

  • The pay range for this role is $191,000 - $315,000. Actual compensation packages are based on a wide array of factors unique to each candidate, including but not limited to skill set, years & depth of experience, certifications and specific office location. This may differ in other locations due to cost of labor considerations. The total compensation package for this position may also include annual performance bonus, stock, benefits and/or other applicable incentive compensation plans.
