This role will manage account reconciliations, prepaid schedules, payroll accounting, prepare and review journal entries, assist with month-end and year-end close processes, and support the preparation of financial statements. Here is how the Senior Staff Accountant will help: Prepare and review journal entries, account reconciliations, and supporting schedules for month-end and year-end close. Manage payroll accounting and related reconciliations ensuring timely reconciliation and resolution of any differences Oversee compliance and tracking of operating grants acting as the first point of contact and partnering across the organization to gather required inputs. Assist in the preparation of financial statements in accordance with GAAP, GASB and organizational policies. Analyze financial data to identify trends, variances, and opportunities for process improvements. Maintain and monitor internal controls to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and company policies. Support external and internal audits by providing documentation and responding to inquiries. Collaborate with Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Payroll, Treasury and other departments to resolve discrepancies and ensure accurate reporting. Assist with budgeting and forecasting processes as needed. Participate in special projects, system upgrades, and process improvement initiatives. Perform other related tasks as assigned or required. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5–7 years of progressive accounting experience.
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP / GASB and financial reporting standards.
  • Experience with Workday or other modern ERP systems (e.g., Microsoft Dynamics 365 Finance & Operations, Oracle Fusion, SAP) required.
  • Advanced Excel skills, including pivot tables and complex formulas.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills for collaboration across departments
  • Possess or obtain prior to employment a valid Pennsylvania Class C driver’s license.
  • Note: license must be maintained throughout employment.
  • Ability to travel up to 5% as needed for project or operational support.
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP and GASB accounting principles, with experience in preparing journal entries, reconciliations, and financial statements.
  • Advanced analytical and problem-solving skills to identify trends, variances, and opportunities for process improvements.
  • Solid knowledge of internal control frameworks and ability to maintain compliance with regulatory and organizational policies.
  • Experience supporting audits, including preparation of documentation and responding to auditor inquiries.
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills for clear documentation and effective stakeholder engagement.
  • Ability to travel up to 5% as needed for project or operational support.

Nice To Haves

  • Proficiency in ERP systems (Workday preferred) and advanced Excel skills; familiarity with reporting tools such as Power BI is a plus.
