About The Position

The Senior Staff Accountant is responsible for revenue and receivables accounting for our Metals division. This individual reports to the Senior Accounting Manager within the Operations Accounting team.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting.
  • 3+ years of accounting experience (preferred experience includes responsibility for general ledger and financial statements)
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Excel software and ERP systems (preferably Oracle) is required.

Responsibilities

  • Review of sales contracts and transactions to ensure revenue recognition criteria is recorded in the correct period, and proper controls and procedures are followed.
  • Review and recording of sales and freight accruals.
  • Review of Company's inventory management system for sales updates and input errors requiring interaction with operations personnel and other departments.
  • Preparation of journal entries, account reconciliations, and other financial schedules requested by management.
  • Review and explanation of changes in the balance sheet, income statement, and other balances from period to period (fluctuation analysis).
  • Assistance in ensuring J-SOX, Anti-Fraud and various audit compliance through review of transaction and detailed support.
  • Effective management of workload and deadlines including enhanced month, quarter and year-end activities.
  • Continuous improvement efforts including implementing efficiencies, enhancing processes, and advancing communication within and among teams.
  • Assisting internal and external audit teams and preparing ad hoc reports.
  • Perform revenue recognition review for accurate monthly cutoff in accordance with International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS).
  • Prepare necessary AR adjustments and accruals.
  • Respond to inquiries and data requests from Credit, Inventory, and GL teams.
  • Supports the Company's anticorruption program through compliance with the Anticorruption manual and all anticorruption controls.
  • Support executive management reporting for revenue and accounts receivable.
  • Other duties as assigned.
