About The Position

This role will oversee HawkEye’s project‑based accounting function and manage the full project life cycle from setup through closeout. The successful candidate will ensure accurate revenue recognition, timely and precise customer invoicing, and full compliance with contractual requirements. We are seeking someone with strong accounting experience who thrives in a high‑growth environment and can balance hands‑on execution with strategic thinking.This position reports to the Controller and is based in Herndon, Virginia.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field (preferred).
  • 5+ years of progressive accounting experience.
  • Strong technical accounting knowledge.
  • Excellent attention to detail, organizational abilities, and communication skills.
  • Ability to excel in a fast‑paced environment and work independently.
  • Experience with Deltek Costpoint (AP and GL modules).
  • Experience with SAP Concur (preferred); this role serves as the primary expense report point of contact.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the full Accounts Payable process, demonstrating a strong understanding of AP workflows and core accounting principles.
  • Use Microsoft Excel proficiently, including VLOOKUP, pivot tables, and standard formulas.
  • Reconcile accounts, resolve discrepancies, and maintain accurate and timely GL account reconciliations.
  • Maintain exceptional attention to detail and accuracy across all work.
  • Organize and maintain AP records and supporting documentation.
  • Assist with month‑end close activities.
  • Collaborate with operations, contracts, and program management teams to support company growth and ensure financial accuracy.
  • Maintain, monitor, and reconcile the AP system.
  • Support year‑end audit processes and related documentation.
  • Contribute to broader accounting and finance initiatives as needed.
  • Drive process automation and system improvements to increase efficiency and enhance reporting capabilities.
  • Serve as a reliable, trusted partner to internal teams.
