We are seeking an experienced senior accountant to join our team. This is a hybrid/in office position based in our Miami, FL corporate office. As Senior Staff Accountant, Ship Operations Accounting you'll be responsible for participating in month-end close, financial reporting, and SOX or internal control processes related to ship operating expenses including Entertainment, Freight, Fuel, Insurance, Port, R&M, and Shipboard IT. You'll prepare and submit journals, reconciliations, report analysis, and other deliverables within the oversight of the Ship Ops Manager. You'll continuously look for improvements to processes to ensure additional confidence related to the accuracy of financial information provided/submitted. Ideal candidates will need to be able to multi-task in a high demanding environment, specifically around accelerated monthly close processes.

Requirements

  • Bachelors Degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field. CPA preferred.
  • Minimum 5 years' of progressive Accounting/Finance experience.
  • Strong GAAP accounting experience with application to operating Departments and Sarbanes-Oxley knowledge.
  • Intermediate to advanced Excel knowledge and skill.
  • Experience with Oracle or another enterprise level accounting system preferred.
  • Experience with Blackline preferred.
  • Strong analytical skills.
  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal).
  • Capable of effectively prioritizing and managing multiple projects and tasks.
  • Flexibility regarding peak work times, particularly month end close.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.

Responsibilities

  • Participate and support the monthly, quarterly, and annual close process for Princess Cruises.
  • Ensure proper reporting according to GAAP, IFRS, and Carnival Corp & PCL accounting policies.
  • Prepare and submit timely and accurate reconciliations of balance sheet accounts.
  • Participate and support in the required department SOX testing, control certification and processes.
  • Provide necessary support to internal and external auditors according to established departmental timelines.
  • Support planning and forecasting activities as related to Ship Operating expenses.
  • Complete variance analysis of financial performance results against budget, forecast, and prior periods.
  • Continuously work to improve efficiency and effectiveness of related business processes.
  • Provide meaningful information and analysis on ad-hoc inquiries to meet departmental objectives.
