About the position

The Senior Staff Accountant - Financial Reporting is responsible for the preparation of audited financial statements including subsidiary statements and unaudited financial information. This position will report directly to the Accounting Supervisor - Financial Reporting and work closely with other members of the accounting and reporting department. The role involves assisting in technical accounting matters and internal controls over financial reporting.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare audited financial statements including financial statement disclosures in accordance with U.S. GAAP including preparation of supporting workpapers.
  • Prepare U.S. GAAP Checklists and related research related to presentation and disclosure matters resulting from significant transactions or new accounting standards updates.
  • Prepare quarterly financial statements for external lenders and other unaudited financial information as required and assist with regulatory reporting.
  • Prepare technical accounting memorandum for transactions in the ordinary course of business related to financial reporting.
  • Assist in the enhancement, developing and maintaining accounting policies.
  • Assist with the company's current process of internal controls over financial reporting including gathering and tracking documentation of internal controls.
  • Complete special projects for management and other financial functions within the department as required.
  • Serve as a primary contact for the external auditors in their audit of the building of the financial statements and related support.
  • Protect, secure, and properly handle all confidential data held by Ascensus to ensure against unauthorized access, improper transmission, and/or unapproved disclosure of information.
  • Support the professional development of members of the financial reporting and corporate accounting team including direct reports, co-ops, and interns.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting.
  • 2-3 years of general accounting, financial reporting, or auditing experience.
  • Knowledge of U.S. GAAP.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work cross-functionally with various departments throughout the finance organization and business.
  • Public accounting experience is a plus.
  • ERP general ledger/financial reporting experience is a plus but not required.
  • Prior financial services industry experience is a plus but not required.
