About The Position

The Systems Network Engineer will provide networking support to multiple environments including development, testing, and production. The position will require hands-on experience installing, configuring, and maintaining routers, switches, VLAN, and firewalls for Layer 2 and Layer 3 devices.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree and minimum of 6 years of prior relevant experience. Graduate Degree and a minimum of 4 years of prior relevant experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 10 years of prior related experience.
  • Must be able to obtain and keep an active DoD Secret clearance.
  • Minimum of 3 years’ hands-on experience with Siemens Ruggedcom network switches and ROX II network operating system (preferred)
  • OR,
  • Possess advanced certification from a mainstream network equipment vendor (e.g., Cisco CCIE R&S, Juniper JNCIE-DC, HPE ACSX, or similar credential having a practical exam component and is willing to learn and work hands-on with another network OEM’s operating environment (i.e., ROX II).

Nice To Haves

  • Experience designing, deploying, testing, maintaining and troubleshooting to root-cause IP networks and related networking equipment, preferably within industrial control system (ICS) environments (SCADA/DCS).
  • Experience working on USG programs (preferably Navy) supporting technical working groups and developing contract related deliverable documentation (network diagrams, physical network topologies, VLAN logical segmentation, IP address plans, routing).
  • Knowledge of security concepts with exposure to FIPS standards and NIST 800 Special Publications.
  • Knowledge of industrial control network protocols such as EtherNet/IP, Modbus/TCP, PROFINET and use of protocol converters.
  • Experience with planning test scenarios and writing test procedures for verifying requirements on network equipment. Familiarity with automated testing tools and scripting languages for network equipment testing is a plus.
  • Knowledge of Agile practices.

Responsibilities

  • Provide networking support to multiple environments including development, testing, and production.
  • Troubleshooting and problem solving of network issues related to but not limited to switches, routers, and end-points.
  • Installing, configuring, and maintaining multi-function L2/L3 network devices using NETCONF for policy-based switching and routing involving unicast and multicast transport methods.
  • Identify areas of opportunity for test automation and network observability using NETFLOW, Wireshark, or similar tools.
  • Review existing network implementation and related documentation for improvement.
  • Supporting technical working groups and developing contract related deliverable documentation (network diagrams, physical network topologies, VLAN logical segmentation, IP address plans, routing).
  • Defining test scenarios for verification of network device functionality and resiliency.
  • Develop new network architectures based on operational requirements.
  • 15% travel to remote sites.
