Senior Specialist, Robotics Process Engineer, CTF Automated Manufacturing provide technical leadership for automated and robotic manufacturing equipment at the Devens Cell Therapy Facility (CTF). This role combines core process engineering responsibilities with deep involvement in robotics system and software design, workstation functionality, process equipment automation, and digital system integration to enable next-generation cell therapy manufacturing. Robotic Process Engineers in this role work closely with external stakeholders, Manufacturing, MSAT, Digital Plant, IT, and Quality to ensure new automated platforms are robust, compliant, and operationally ready. The engineer serves as a technical owner of the robotic systems, providing on‑the‑floor support, equipment monitoring, and lifecycle management to maintain high system reliability and support routine GMP operations. This position emphasizes proactive system performance, equipment readiness, and continuous improvement. Shifts Available: TBD

Requirements

  • Strong understanding of robotics and automation.
  • Experience with robotic system design, robot programming, safety zone logic, testing, and operational troubleshooting.
  • Ability to develop and execute design, engineering, and validation strategies, including risk assessments, plans, protocols, and reports.
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills, with ability to translate technical details into practical manufacturing guidance.
  • Proficiency with data analysis to evaluate equipment performance and support continuous improvement.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Experience within a cGMP environment and/or regulated environment is strongly preferred.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Senior Specialist, Associate Robotics Process Engineer II: Minimum 2.5+ years of relevant industry experience.
  • Experience in design, engineering, and validation processes are required.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience within a regulated environment is preferred.
  • Experience within pharmaceutical or biotechnology industries is desired.

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to the design and development of robotic workcells software, and integrated automated manufacturing systems.
  • Support creation and ownership of User Requirements for robotic and automated systems, ensuring flexibility, compliance, and future scalability.
  • Participate in design and code reviews, risk assessments, and technical evaluations of robotic hardware, software, vision systems, tool changers, end‑effectors, sensors, and system interfaces, including safety.
  • Interface with MES, DeltaV, and other digital systems to ensure robotic processes are accurately, and safely, represented and executed digitally.
  • Lead or support FAT, SAT, installation, commissioning, IQ/OQ/PQ, and validation activities for robotic and automated systems.
  • Develop or review test protocols, reports, and engineering studies related to robotics and process systems.
  • Execute system testing in development environments to verify functionality and digital system connectivity.
  • Ensure robotic systems maintain Chain of Identity / Chain of Custody linkages within digital infrastructure, as applicable.
  • Serve as equipment / workstation owner for designated robotic workstations following commissioning.
  • Monitor system performance, interpret equipment data, and identify opportunities for reliability improvements.
  • Collaborate with MSAT, Quality, Digital Plant, Scheduling, Supply Chain, and Facilities/Engineering to ensure reliable operation of automated manufacturing systems.
