About The Position

L3Harris is looking for a RF Tier 2 Network Operations Engineer who will support Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) programs. This individual will be a key member of the Network Operations Control Center (NOCC) supporting a geographically dispersed field team located throughout North America. The RF Tier 2 Network Operations Engineer will directly interface with both internal and external customers and service providers. They will be responsible for providing TDM Tier II level assistance to other subgroups of the FTI program, supporting Operations, managing special projects, resolving issues, and performing on call duties in a 24/7 environment. Assist in the operation and maintenance of the Network Optical Backbone SONET equipment, RF Microwave radios, FTI Satellite equipment and Time-Division Multiplexing (TDM) circuits. Review network event data and determine causes of alarms and events to conduct efforts to resolve network event issues. Schedule, track, and perform maintenance on FTI Customer Premise Equipment (CPE) and services. Submits Program Tracking Reports (PTR) for facility, equipment, and service changes. Partner with the Tier 1 team to help facilitate learning, technical direction, and the flow of operations, and assist in creating detailed documentation for technical and training purposes. Orders replacement parts for repair activities and tracks shipment. Periodically supports on-call responsibilities and work after-hours as required. Assist Operations Management with daily and monthly Metrics reporting. Lead Engineer responsible for Satellite Gateway Moves and Satellite Flyaway Deployments.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree and a minimum of 6 years of prior related experience.
  • Graduate Degree or equivalent with 4 years of prior related experience.
  • In lieu of a degree, minimum of 10 years of prior related experience.
  • 2 years of experience with data protocols including TCP/IP.
  • Minimum of 4 years networking technologies experience with RF Microwave radios/hardware and waveguide.
  • Minimum of 1 year change management, network management, and network technology experience.
  • CCNA Certification.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience as a NOS working in the FTI PNOCC troubleshooting all aspects of the FTI/FAA communications network infrastructure.
  • Knowledge of FTI/FAA communications network infrastructure.
  • General understanding of NAS Operations ticket management, maintenance processes and procedures.
  • Experience with event and alarm correlation.
  • Experience in project management and adhering to deadlines.
  • Experience creating and presenting training documents and technical procedures.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office software applications.
  • Proficient with RF Microwave radios/hardware and waveguide.
  • Proficient with RF concepts, RF Transmission Theory, Line-of-Sight Communication, and FTI Satellite Network Architecture.
  • Demonstrate subject matter expert level knowledge of RF service types, service design, alarm generation and flow.
