About The Position
The Senior Specialist, NERC CIP Compliance at AES Corporation plays a crucial role in ensuring compliance with the North American Electric Reliability Corporation (NERC) Critical Infrastructure Protection (CIP) Standards. This position is integral to the Legal and Compliance team within AES Clean Energy, which is dedicated to maintaining the reliable operation of the Bulk Electric System. The successful candidate will provide leadership and independent oversight, guiding the organization in adhering to the NERC CIP Standards, particularly focusing on standards such as CIP-003, CIP-005, CIP-007, CIP-010, and CIP-011. In this role, the Senior Specialist will demonstrate a deep understanding of NERC compliance monitoring and enforcement processes. They will be responsible for communicating compliance information clearly to Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) and conducting periodic internal assessments to ensure adherence to applicable standards. The position also involves monitoring changes to existing and new CIP Standards, coordinating internal comments for regulatory purposes, and assisting legal and project management teams in defining scopes of service for third-party contractors. The Senior Specialist will collaborate with IT and Operations Technology teams to identify and implement technologies that enhance compliance monitoring and reporting processes. They will act as a liaison between NERC Compliance and internal stakeholders, participate in industry focus groups, and lead responses to regulatory compliance requests and enforcement actions. This position requires a proactive approach to compliance, with a focus on fostering a culture of adherence to standards and regulations.
