About The Position

Practical Law US is seeking a Senior Specialist Legal Editor (lawyer) with a strong passion for legal research and writing to develop attorney-specific wage and hour resources for our Labor & Employment Service. This role is ideal for someone who has dedicated their legal career to wage and hour litigation defense, as well as providing wage and hour advice and counsel to employers. The culture at Practical Law is dynamic, energetic, and intellectual, with regular working hours and uninterrupted vacations. Collaboration is key, as the team works together on resources and interesting projects that integrate with Thomson Reuters's other offerings, particularly in the legal technology space. The primary focus of the Senior Specialist Legal Editor will be to expand the scope of our legal know-how materials in various areas related to wage and hour law, while also ensuring that existing materials are kept up to date. Key areas of focus include the Federal Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA), state and local wage and hour standards, minimum wage and overtime pay, tipped employee issues, independent contractor classification, payroll policies, and wage and hour litigation. The role also involves monitoring and analyzing developments in wage and hour law, including DOL rulemaking and emerging trends such as earned wage access (EWA) and the impact of AI on wage and hour issues. In this role, you will conceptualize, draft, and edit original legal know-how materials, including practice notes, annotated standard-form documents, and checklists for both online and print publication. You will also support Labor & Employment teammates and collaborate with colleagues across different teams on special projects. Additionally, you will work closely with sales and marketing teams to assist with marketing initiatives, sales demonstrations, and the creation of video content and webinars for current and potential subscribers. Building and maintaining relationships with in-house counsel and legal practitioners will be essential to ensure that the wage and hour content remains relevant and meets their needs.
