About The Position

The Senior Specialist, Instructional Design, plays a key role in CASE’s Education Programs team and our volunteer trainers and speakers, leading the design and development of high-quality learning experiences that advance member engagement and professional growth. This position contributes directly to CASE’s mission of advancing education by building innovative programs across multiple modalities—online asynchronous and synchronous courses, in-person workshops, and blended learning experiences. Grounded in the CASE Competency Model and Career Journey Framework, the Instructional Designer ensures that programs provide clear pathways for member development at every career stage. By applying instructional design expertise, adult learning theory, and proficiency in tools such as Articulate 360 and Rise, the role drives the creation of impactful, scalable programs that support credentialing, competency building, and long-term member success.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in instructional design, education, learning technologies, or related field. Master’s degree preferred.
  • Experience (3-5 years minimum) developing online courses in asynchronous and synchronous formats.
  • Proficiency in Articulate Storyline and Rise, as well as basic video editing required.
  • Familiarity with designing in-person workshops or educational programs preferred.
  • Experience with competency models, certifications, or credentialing initiatives desired.
  • Fluency in English is required. Fluency in other languages, especially Spanish, is desired.

Responsibilities

  • Designs and develops learning experiences for asynchronous, synchronous, and blended formats.
  • Creates course content using the Articulate 360 suite, ensuring accessibility and interactivity.
  • Supports the design and facilitation of in-person programs, working with SMEs and volunteers.
  • Applies instructional design principles, adult learning theory, and CASE’s competency model to program development.
  • Contributes to the development and refinement of competency frameworks, certifications, and credentialing initiatives.
  • Manages timelines, deliverables, and documentation for assigned projects.
  • Coordinates with subject matter experts, faculty, and volunteer leaders to ensure content accuracy and relevance.
  • Prepares and maintains learning materials, guides, and digital resources.
  • Provides support for pilot testing, evaluation, and iteration of new program formats.
  • Stays current with emerging instructional technologies and industry best practices, sharing recommendations with the team.
  • Provides support for implementing CASE education strategy including subject matter expertise for the Board of Trustees, CASE Commissions, Regional Councils, and District Cabinets.
  • Gathers and analyzes learner feedback to improve course design and delivery.
  • Contributes to continuous improvement of CASE’s educational portfolio through research, benchmarking, and innovation.
  • Exercises fiscal responsibility in the utilization of all CASE resources.
  • Works cooperatively and diplomatically with all divisions and regions.
  • Consults with CASE colleagues in other parts of the world to ensure the best sharing of ideas, expertise, and knowledge.
  • Incorporates tasks and/or projects related to objectives as directed by the CASE Strategic Plan.
  • Ensures that CASE is well represented by exercising a high degree of professionalism, accuracy, and ethics, in all activities, services, and products.
