About The Position

The Senior Special Program Coordinator, Women, Gender & Sexuality serves as a resource and support person for students, faculty, and staff around issues of gender and sexuality. They are tasked with developing and implementing student-centered and student-focused programming, outreach, and education at the College including but not limited to the implementation of workshops and mentorship programs. The Senior Special Program Coordinator will work collaboratively with other departments to contribute to the Division of Student Services and Enrollment Management's overall goal of impactful student engagement, belongingness and retention. This position will be primarily based in Fall River, with required travel to other campus locations as business needs dictate.

Requirements

  • Minimum of a Master's degree in Education, Counseling, Psychology, Education Administration, or other field related to area of assignment.
  • Minimum three (3) years experience and/or training involving area of assignment, which may include student affairs, student services, LGBTQIA+ programs, gender and sexuality programs, student mentorship, or community engagement.
  • An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience shall be considered.
  • Ability to work occasional evenings and weekends

Nice To Haves

  • Demonstrated proficiency with Banner Student Information Systems, DegreeWorks, and a student success platform (e.g., EAB Navigate, Anthology, Starfish, etc.).
  • Demonstrated experience working in higher education, with a preference for experience working at a community college.
  • Experience working with LGBTQIA+ students in a college setting.
  • Ability to speak a language in addition to English, with a preference for Spanish or Portuguese.

Responsibilities

  • Create, implement, and manage engagement and support programs for women, LGBTQIA+, and male/masculine-identifying students.
  • Develop empowerment and wellness activities that build resilience, foster inclusion, and strengthen campus safety and equity.
  • Host guest speakers, panels, and special events that inspire, educate, and connect students to real-world perspectives.
  • Facilitate peer support networks and mentorship opportunities for underrepresented student communities.
  • Oversee the Peer Support Facilitator Training program, providing students the opportunity to earn a nationally recognized Peer Support Specialist Certificate.
  • Recruit, train, and supervise student workers and peer facilitators.
  • Serve as a confidential resource and advocate for students seeking support regarding gender-based harassment, discrimination, violence, or sexual violence.
  • Connect students to wraparound and community-based services that support their academic and personal success.
  • Collaborate with campus offices and affinity centers to promote gender and sexuality inclusion and support.
  • Partner with relevant departments to meet Title IX requirements and facilitate workshops on sexual assault prevention and gender inclusion.
  • Assist in developing strategies and policies that enhance gender and sexuality inclusion across the College.
  • Collaborate with College offices and external partners to support grant applications and fundraising efforts that advance LGBTQIA+ and gender equity programs, initiatives, and scholarships.
  • Develop and present campus-wide workshops and training that encourage critical dialogue on issues impacting women and LGBTQIA+ communities.
  • Support campus climate assessment and initiatives related to gender, sexuality, and equity.
  • Maintain professional knowledge in gender and sexuality programming and represent Bristol as a subject-matter expert.
  • Demonstrate professionalism and uphold Bristol's core values and the Commonwealth's Equity Agenda in all responsibilities.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
