About The Position

HawkEye 360 is seeking a Senior Space Test Engineer to join the Assembly, Integration, & Test (AI&T) Team. As part of this team, you will play a key role in the design, integration and testing of all HawkEye 360 space platforms. This includes spacecraft systems design, test development, unit testing, spacecraft-level testing, and flight integration and launch campaigns. You’ll also collaborate closely with Systems Engineering, Engineering Programs, and the Flight Operations teams. HawkEye 360’s satellite clusters and ground segments provide the platform RF data collection that is essential for HawkEye’s core business. HawkEye 360 is looking for a technically strong, solutions-oriented individual with proven leadership skills. The ideal candidate is experienced, organized, innovative, and passionate about cutting edge space technologies. As the Senior Space Test Engineer , your main responsibilities will be: Support expanding our strategy for vertical integration of small satellite production. Execute unit-level and spacecraft level functional tests and document results Design, plan and execute environmental tests (TVAC, Vibe, EMI/EMC, radiation) Develop detailed design documents, interface control drawing (ICD’s), test plans and procedures across spacecraft subsystems. Collaborate with the software team to develop and implement automated test scripts and framework Design harnessing, electrical and mechanical ground support equipment (EGSE and MGSE) to facilitate I&T work for flatsats and flight hardware Support launch site integration and test campaigns Support future spacecraft bus architecture strategy for our next generation of RF collection payloads.

Requirements

  • 5+ years professional experience in the satellite industry
  • Bachelor’s degree in Aerospace or Electrical Engineering or a related field.
  • Experience building and/or operating small satellites (initial requirements gathering, design, assembly, environmental testing, launch, commissioning, operations).
  • Experience programming in at least on high-level programming language such as python
  • Experience with CAD software (NX, Solidworks, or similar)
  • Good analytical and strategic skills, with excellent written and presentation abilities.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience handling expensive electronic components (ESD and Cleanroom best practices).
  • Experience with environmental testing (Thermal and Vacuum Chambers, Vibe Tables, etc.)
  • Experience with Printed Circuit Board design using Altium.
  • Familiarity with orbital mechanics and/or attitude dynamics
  • Experience writing technical documentation such as test procedures and test plans
  • Experience with RF electronics, and RF lab equipment (Spectrum Analyzers, Network Analyzers, Signal Generators, etc.
