About The Position

The Senior Space Planning Analyst will be responsible for analysis, insights, recommendations, and execution of Space Planning as part of category business reviews for designated merchandising categories. This person should be seen by merchants as a leader on visual presentation, space productivity, and assortment optimization. The Senior Analyst will work collaboratively with Merchandising to develop assortment plans and schematics in assigned categories, new store locations, remodeled stores, category reset, and speed-to-shelf initiatives. This includes accommodating decisions for new and discontinued items, working closely with the Category Manager, and supplier partners. The Senior Space Planning Analyst will develop and maintain financial and other reports to track and report progress of the department. In addition, the Senior Analyst will serve as a subject matter expert of the space planning software and help provide mentorship to the broader team of analysts.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Finance, Economics, Accounting, or related field is preferred.
  • Merchandising/Assortment planning experience including management, assortment planning, financial planning, item planning, location planning, category management
  • Strong knowledge of the fundamental concepts and processes to support schematic development, assortment management, and retail implementation
  • Experience with Space/Assortment Planning tools such as RELEX, JDA/Blue Yonder
  • Proven ability to translate data into insights and insights into action
  • Demonstrated success in leading efforts to maximize space productivity
  • Analytical mindset with detail orientation and entrepreneurial work ethic - in short, a "general athlete"
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, problem solving skills, analytical and decision-making skills, and ability to work on cross-functional teams

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with Category Manager and others to develop analytically-driven, fact-based, space efficient, customer centric, and store friendly schematics. Aim to drive and maximize sales/productivity through optimizing space and assortment.
  • Perform analysis on assortment performance for assigned categories and make recommendations to stakeholders to improve assortment productivity.
  • Partner with cross functional team to perform analysis and provide recommendations on existing categories, identifying incremental opportunities to drive the business
  • Utilize software to build and maintain accurate optimized schematics.
  • Analyze performance of implemented schematics based on sales metrics and reporting tools.
  • Proactively perform quality reviews for the assigned area of responsibility to ensure accuracy and clear communication.
  • Proactively identify opportunities for capability development (tools, analytics, process) that align with leadership priorities.
  • Ensure schematic changes are executed and consistent with internal policies and procedures.
  • Assist in developing databases that help streamline information flow from the Schematic Department to the Directors, Category Managers, stores, and vendor partners.
  • Serve as a liaison between Sprouts and schematic software vendors, and identify system issues
  • Help facilitate teaching and training to the schematics team on new innovations including the creation of job aids.
