The position of Senior Sourcing Manager will be responsible for procurement and sourcing of equipment, raw materials, hardware, services, and contract management for production parts to machine and/or fabricate precision critical components. Supplier relationship management, team oriented and cross functional leadership, and a result-oriented mindset will be critical to being successful in this role.

Requirements

  • Experience with MRP / ERP systems (Epicor).
  • Knowledge of Bill of Materials (BOM) structure.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings including advanced geometric dimension and tolerancing (GD&T) and material callouts.
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver and communicate results in a contract manufacturing environment.
  • Basic knowledge of metal machining process, equipment, and technology.
  • Strong communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills with a team-oriented mentality.
  • Highly organized, able to multitask, and adjust to changing priorities.
  • Review, forecast, and make decisions with a data centric approach with an action and result oriented mindset.
  • Develop metrics and key performance indicators for the procurement team to report up to Votaw leadership and measure success.
  • Ability to negotiate contracts, develop long-term & service agreements, and maintain supplier relations.
  • Advanced proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Teams, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio) and other relevant computer skills; ability to work with spreadsheets, interact with databases, and use reporting functions.
  • Bachelor’s Degree from a four-year college or university in Business, Engineering, or Supply Chain, and seven to ten (7-10) years of relevant experience in an aerospace manufacturing environment -OR- an equivalent combination of formal education, on-the-job training, and/or work and life experience.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in aerospace, defense, or precision machining.
  • Knowledge of lean manufacturing or six sigma principles.
  • Familiarity with government contracting regulations (FAR, DFAR) and experience with DoD proposals.
  • Experience in a job shop environment including build-to-print, custom fabrications and large components.
  • Build and create reports and dashboards for supply chain improvement initiatives.
  • Previous management or supervisory experience leading a team.
  • Typing speed of 50 words per minute.

Responsibilities

  • Conducts all tasks in a highly professional, respectful, and team-oriented manner, setting the bar and expectation for professional conduct in the workplace.
  • Procure equipment, raw materials, forgings, hardware, supplies and services following established purchasing policies and procedures and optimize price, delivery, and quality; purchase complex items where detailed specification and certifications are involved.
  • Collaborate closely with our finance, estimating, planning, production & project managers, quality, and logistics organizations.
  • Reviews purchase requisitions, seek out sources/quotes, issue purchase orders, and follow up on order status through delivery.
  • Validates supplier promise dates and ensure data entry is accurate and current.
  • Analyzes and evaluates bids to determine optimal value, develops a sourcing strategy for supplier selection, identifies opportunities for cost savings, monitor deliveries, improve yield, expedites as necessary, and evaluates vendor reliability.
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing processes and capacity planning.
  • Holds business reviews and improvement initiatives with suppliers, analyzes spend and yield profiles, and suggests new sourcing directions as needed through a data centric approach and documented through an approved suppliers list.
  • Discuss non-conforming/defective materials, hardware or services with inspection and quality control personnel, users, suppliers, and others to determine root cause, corrective action, and next steps.
  • Coordinates purchasing activities with manufacturing and engineering departments to maintain inventory at planned levels.
  • Ensure part delivery supports operations and customer needs and escalates as necessary when delivery or quality does not support the production timeline.
  • Effectively communicate with all affected internal department personnel status and issues which may affect any element to meet customer requirements.
  • Coordinates activities with the Shipping and Receiving departments to ensure hardware delivery is received in a timely manner with the appropriate documentation for traceability and certifications.
  • Host and visit suppliers to establish and build key relationships. Conduct all external business in a professional and respectful manner.
  • Keeps all documents, tasks, projects, and schedule organized.
  • Proactively communicates, assists, and supports the Votaw leadership team with improvement initiatives and department updates.
  • Comply with safety standards (safety shoes and glasses) when conducting work through the manufacturing floor.
