About The Position

The Senior Solutions Architect is responsible for architecting, designing, and governing large‑scale, enterprise‑grade platforms that support mission‑critical workloads across Bank of America. This role serves as a Senior technical authority, providing architectural leadership across complex, distributed systems with a strong emphasis on resilience, scalability, security, data integrity, operational excellence, and performance. The architect partners closely with engineering, infrastructure, security, operations, and business stakeholders to translate complex requirements into robust, future‑proof architectures. This role ensures solutions align with enterprise architecture standards, data architecture principles, security controls, and operational resiliency requirements, while guiding teams through design and implementation.

Responsibilities

  • Architect, design, and govern enterprise‑scale, Python‑based platforms supporting high‑availability, mission‑critical workloads.
  • Define reference architectures and design patterns for distributed systems, ensuring alignment with Bank of America’s enterprise standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Lead architecture for cloud‑scale platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP), including resiliency, security, scalability, observability, and cost optimization.
  • Provide hands‑on architectural leadership for OpenShift and Kubernetes‑based platforms, including cluster design, deployment strategies, scaling models, and production operations.
  • Design and govern large‑scale distributed systems, including microservices architectures, service mesh patterns, inter‑service communication, and backward‑compatible API evolution.
  • Define and enforce enterprise API architecture, including RESTful services, authentication and authorization (OAuth2, JWT, mTLS), secure integration patterns, and full API lifecycle governance.
  • Architect and govern distributed data platforms, including SQL and NoSQL databases, data modeling, partitioning/sharding strategies, replication models, and consistency trade‑offs.
  • Design event‑driven and asynchronous architectures, ensuring reliability through idempotency, retries, fault isolation, and resiliency at scale.
  • Drive production readiness and operational resiliency, including capacity planning, performance engineering, SLO/SLI definition, incident response leadership, and root‑cause analysis.
  • Establish and govern CI/CD, infrastructure‑as‑code, and platform automation standards to enable safe, repeatable, and audit‑ready deployments.
  • Provide architectural governance, mentoring, and technical guidance to engineering teams, ensuring consistent application of best practices and standards.
  • Collaborate with security, risk, and compliance partners to ensure architectures meet information security, regulatory, and audit requirements.
