About The Position

Under the general direction of the Digitalization Group Manager and/or Project Managers, the Senior Solutions Specialist serves as a member of a cross-functional project team or independently as a creator of processes, procedures, and IP.  As a member of a cross-functional project team, the role has responsibility to independently execute any task type and project initiatives, or direct others on execution of tasks.

 Responsibilities: This position is responsible for the lead development, design, integration, programming, and troubleshooting of SCADA/MES systems, Industrial and MES Networks, and custom software-based automation applications to support productivity and/or quality improvements for our clients.  The position has responsibility for determining system feasibility by evaluating analysis, problem definition, requirements, solution development, and proposed solutions.  Will prepare, review and install solutions by determining and designing system specifications, standards, and programming.  Additional responsibilities include participating in process improvement teams, training Level 1&2 Solutions Specialists, advising PMs on best project execution plans, and main project lead on technical initiatives.

Requirements

• Four-year bachelor’s degree in an accredited engineering discipline or have at least have 4 years of equivalent experience.
• Minimum 7 years of experience as a Solutions Specialist Level 2 or equivalent experience
• Satisfactorily completed all requirements of Solutions Specialist Level 2.
• Achievement of this level must be initiated through a recommendation made by either a team leader or supervisor, completion of the application process, and be approved by management.
• Travel required.

Responsibilities

• Lead development, design, integration, programming, and troubleshooting of SCADA/MES systems, Industrial and MES Networks, and custom software-based automation applications.
• Determine system feasibility by evaluating analysis, problem definition, requirements, solution development, and proposed solutions.
• Prepare, review and install solutions by determining and designing system specifications, standards, and programming.
• Participate in process improvement teams.
• Train Level 1&2 Solutions Specialists.
• Advise PMs on best project execution plans.
• Main project lead on technical initiatives.
• Evaluate, analyze, and troubleshoot existing Manufacturing Execution Systems: hardware, software, networking.
• System Design: Research, understand, and specify/apply commercially available hardware and software.
• System Design: Ability to evaluate and select system strategies to meet clients’ needs.
• Interpret detailed specifications for client MES applications.
• Advise other team members, client stakeholders, and vendors to ensure design intent and cost effectiveness of delivery are achieved.
• Develops and supervises others on creation of detailed system documentation.
• Create project documentation (RAILs, FATs/SATs, SOWs, FDS, Server Configuration, etc.)
• Write operations manuals at the direction of Project Managers.
• Hardware and software, specify and implement
• Appropriate hardware for system (server, PC, UPS, switch, NAS, redundancy, etc.)
• Software including OS, communications software, drivers, other software packages, etc.
• Update device firmware, Install, license, and patch software, update drivers
• Follows current hardware trends and is involved in setting department standards
• Provides technical expertise to sales and clients
• Networking
• Confidently communicate network requirements and conditions to client IT/OT staff in support of existing and new applications.
• Efficiently design, implement, and document networks for new and existing systems.
• Develop standards for implementation, design, and documentation of networks
• Backend Development and Support
• Develops future-proof database architecture
• Extensive knowledge of other applications and expertise in integration between systems
• Develops standards for and drives best practice of custom scripting/programming
• Interacts with Third party software developers to resolve software bugs, advocate for needed features, and remain abreast of software and service changes.
• Frontend Development and support
• Develop/define UI toolkit for objects on SCADA/HMI Screens and leads development efforts
• Sets department standards for Front end design
• Remains alert of current cyber security threat landscape and contributes to security standards and best practice definitions
• Ability to breakdown and estimate work to support sales efforts and deliver client presentations.
• On-site direction and support of for design reviews, consultancy, installation, start-up, and troubleshooting.
• Provide remote assistance with technical support to meet lead time and quality of client‘s requests.
• Develop testing procedures and requirements and oversee testing to ensure project quality.
• Demonstrates leadership and mentors other team members
• Provide training to Solutions Specialists levels 1 and 2 individuals
• Suggests future standards and process improvements for the department.
