As a Senior Solar Estimator at Hanwha Qcells USA Corp, you will play a pivotal role in the successful execution of utility-scale solar projects. This position requires you to work closely with various departments to accurately estimate costs and resources necessary for these projects. Your expertise will guide decision-making processes, ensuring both profitability and efficiency. You will be responsible for providing firm bid and submittal documents, as well as comprehensive cost estimates that include electrical, mechanical, and civil pricing. This involves leveling, reviewing, and analyzing subcontractor and material proposals, performing take-offs, conducting scope reviews, identifying risks, optimizing engineering solutions, and increasing margins by identifying cost efficiencies. In this role, you will oversee the preparation of detailed cost estimates, analyze project specifications and drawings, and perform site evaluations to inform project costs. You will utilize historical data, industry benchmarks, and market trends to ensure that your cost estimates are realistic and competitive. Additionally, you will review and validate subcontractor bids, generate and manage project budgets, and develop cost models using computer estimating software. Your responsibilities will also include collaborating with project managers to develop resource plans, identifying resource requirements, and optimizing resource allocation to maximize efficiency and minimize risks. You will be expected to prepare comprehensive bid proposals in response to client requests, ensuring that they are accurate and competitive. Maintaining relationships with vendors and subcontractors will be crucial for achieving cost savings and improving project profitability. Quality assurance will also be a key aspect of your role, as you will review project estimates for accuracy and compliance with company standards. This position reports to the Senior Director of Project Planning and is hybrid, with working hours typically from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm or 9:00 am to 6:00 pm local time, Monday through Friday. Overtime and weekend work may be required as needed, and travel is expected to be up to 25%.
