Requirements

  • Proven experience configuring and managing Gigamon appliances (GigaVUE HC2, TA25, FM), including clustering and port optimization.
  • Familiarity with VA systems and security requirements, including TLS/SSL remediation and EHRM Joint Security Architecture support.
  • Experience with Dynatrace, Splunk, ServiceNow, and ForeScout integration.
  • Strong understanding of hybrid cloud environments, network security, and telemetry pipelines.
  • Excellent documentation and communication skills, with the ability to convey complex technical concepts in plain language.
  • Master's Degree in Computer Science, Electronics Engineering, or other Engineering, or equivalent PLUS 10 Years of experience.
  • Ten (10) years of additional relevant experience may be substituted for education.
  • The ability to pass a Tier 4/HIGH Background Investigation.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience supporting VA or other federal healthcare IT environments.
  • Knowledge of ServiceNow CMDB and integration workflows.
  • Familiarity with Palo Alto IPS, NetScout, and Keysight TAPs.

Responsibilities

  • Architect and implement Gigamon GigaVUE node configurations to aggregate, filter, and distribute network traffic to monitoring and security tools.
  • Lead the integration of Gigamon with tools such as ForeScout, Splunk, and Palo Alto IPS to enhance visibility and threat detection across VA networks.
  • Support clustering, port mapping, license management, and SSL certificate remediation for Gigamon appliances.
  • Collaborate with VA’s Event and Incident Management teams to ensure accurate data flow and optimized network performance.
  • Maintain and update the Monitoring Service Registry (MSR) with current architecture and system configurations.
  • Provide technical leadership in the development of service-level metrics and KPIs for critical business transactions and infrastructure components.
  • Participate in VA-wide refresh and upgrade projects involving Gigamon, ForeScout, and other observability platforms.
  • Document architectural decisions, configurations, and procedures to support standardization and compliance.
