Requirements

  • 5+ years of hands-on experience as an IBM Mainframe Systems Programmer.
  • Strong expertise with z/OS system internals and utilities.
  • Experience with SMP/E, JCL, and system automation tools.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-resolution skills.
  • Ability to work independently in a high-availability environment.
  • Master's Degree in Computer Science, Electronic Engineering, or other Electronic Engineering, or equivalent PLUS 10 Years of experience.
  • Ten (10) years of additional relevant experience may be substituted for education.
  • The ability to pass a Tier 4/HIGH Background Investigation.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with IBM z hardware, sysplex, and parallel sysplex environments.
  • Familiarity with CICS, and middleware integration.
  • Experience in regulated or government environments.
  • IBM or vendor certifications (z/OS, Mainframe Systems).
  • Scripting or automation experience (REXX, CLIST, or z/OS automation tools).

Responsibilities

  • Install, configure, maintain, and upgrade IBM z/OS and related system software.
  • Administer and support system components such as JCL, REXX, JES3 Plus, TSO/E, and SMP/E.
  • Monitor system performance, capacity, and availability; tune system resources as needed.
  • Diagnose and resolve complex system-level problems and outages.
  • Apply IBM maintenance (PTFs, HIPERs) and manage system upgrades and migrations.
  • Implement and enforce security controls in coordination with information security teams.
  • Support disaster recovery, business continuity, and system backup processes.
  • Collaborate with application developers, DBAs, and operations teams.
  • Maintain system documentation, procedures, and configuration standards.
  • Provide on-call or after-hours support as required.
