Collins Aerospace is currently seeking a Senior Engineering Manager to join the Integrated Platforms team in Richardson, TX. This position is for a highly motivated manager to lead a team of 12-17 software engineers developing embedded software for Nuclear Command and Control (NC2) mission systems solutions deployed on aircraft and in ground strategic defense systems. The role includes managing and motivating a team responsible for all aspects of the software development lifecycle while cultivating and reinforcing values, methods, and processes. This position will require on-site work in Richardson, Texas and spans the entire development lifecycle, from pursuit and order capture through verification testing and customer delivery.

  • Provide technical oversight and guidance to a software engineering team across all software development lifecycle stages
  • Responsible for recruiting, coaching and mentoring software engineers of all experience levels
  • Responsible for program staffing and staffing supply metrics
  • Review of bids and proposals
  • Act as an interface to engineering and value stream leadership
  • Ensure compliance with development processes and standard work environments
  • Responsible for the earned value (cost and schedule) performance of the team
  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) unless prohibited by local laws/regulations and minimum 10 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 7 years of experience or in absence of a degree, 14 years of relevant experience
  • Active and transferable U.S. government issued security clearance is required prior to start date ​
  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance ​
  • Software engineering development and leadership experience
  • Experience with all software development lifecycle stages
  • Prior experience of hiring and staffing programs
  • Experience of leading software teams on DoD programs
  • Experience in development of embedded software for military airborne platforms
  • Experience working in an Agile development environment
  • Familiarity with on air and on ground communications systems
  • Experience in software bid and proposal efforts
  • Experience using SEER-SEM, Cameo, and JIRA or similar software development tools
  • Experience with regulatory and certification requirements
