About the Role: Walmart’s Catalog organization is seeking a Senior Software Engineer with deep expertise in Java backend development to help build and scale critical services for our e-commerce platform. You will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining highly available, scalable microservices that power Walmart’s vast product catalog and associated services.

Design and implement backend services and APIs using Java, Spring, and Kafka
Build and maintain distributed, event-driven systems supporting millions of daily transactions
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define system architecture and ensure alignment with business goals
Develop and optimize data pipelines and streaming services using Kafka and potentially Spark
Ensure code quality through rigorous testing, CI/CD processes, and code reviews
Participate in performance tuning and troubleshooting of distributed systems
Work with Kubernetes and GitHub for deployment automation and source control management

Strong proficiency in Java (8+) and Spring Framework (Spring Boot, Spring MVC)
Experience with Apache Kafka for building streaming and event-driven systems
Hands-on experience with Cassandra or other NoSQL databases
Solid understanding of microservices architecture and RESTful APIs
Experience working with CI/CD pipelines and GitHub workflows
Familiarity with container orchestration using Kubernetes
Bachelor's degree in computer science, computer engineering, computer information systems, software engineering, or related area and 3 years’ experience in software engineering or related area.
5 years’ experience in software engineering or related area.

Experience with Apache Spark for real-time data processing
Knowledge of performance services and tuning distributed systems
Experience with additional NoSQL databases
Cloud platform experience (AWS, GCP, or Azure)
Master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Computer Information Systems, Software Engineering, or related area and 1 year's experience in software engineering or related area.
