About The Position

Walmart’s Global Time & Attendance (GTA) platform is undergoing a multi-year modernization effort to deliver modern, containerized, and scalable experiences for store, facility, and international users. These initiatives aim to sunset legacy UIs and deliver a unified, cloud-ready web and mobile experience using React and React Native. We are hiring a Senior Software Engineer – Frontend to help build the next generation of associate-facing applications used by millions across the U.S. and global markets. We are looking for a Senior Software Engineer (Frontend) with deep hands-on experience in React and modern frontend technologies. In this role, you’ll be responsible for designing and implementing user-facing features that are performant, accessible, and scalable. You’ll contribute to a React Native–based container strategy that powers both web and mobile views, ensuring a consistent and responsive experience across platforms. You’ll also help integrate GenAI capabilities to enhance user experience and developer workflows.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of hands-on frontend development experience.
  • Strong proficiency in JavaScript/TypeScript and the React ecosystem.
  • Experience with React Native or shared component frameworks across web and mobile platforms.
  • Deep understanding of responsive design, accessibility, and browser compatibility best practices.
  • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, code linting, and test automation frameworks (e.g., Jest, Cypress).
  • Comfort working in Agile development environments with version control (Git/GitHub).
  • Experience modernizing legacy UIs or working within large-scale design systems.
  • Exposure to GenAI technologies or strong interest in AI-driven UI improvements.
  • Strong problem-solving, debugging, and collaboration skills.
  • Clear written and verbal communication.
  • Option 1: Bachelor's degree in computer science, computer engineering, computer information systems, software engineering, or related area and 3 years’ experience in software engineering or related area.
  • Option 2: 5 years’ experience in software engineering or related area.

  • Master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Computer Information Systems, Software Engineering, or related area and 1 year's experience in software engineering or related area.

Responsibilities

  • Build rich, interactive UI components using React and React Native, targeting shared deployment for web and mobile.
  • Develop pixel-perfect, accessible, and responsive user experiences using modern frontend tooling and component libraries.
  • Migrate legacy frontends (e.g., JSP-based UI) to React within a modular, scalable architecture.
  • Work within Walmart’s containerized frontend delivery model, collaborating with platform teams to align with standards.
  • Participate in design sessions, code reviews, and Agile ceremonies with a collaborative mindset.
  • Write clean, testable code and contribute to automated testing frameworks (unit, integration, and UI tests).
  • Implement CI/CD and observability best practices for frontend delivery and runtime performance monitoring.
  • Collaborate with UX designers and product managers to align implementation with business needs and design specifications.
  • Explore and integrate GenAI-based enhancements to improve form inputs, suggestions, or guided actions.
  • Build and Maintain Modern UI Components Deliver reusable, scalable UI components for new GTA workflows using React and React Native.
  • Migrate from Legacy UIs Convert existing legacy frontend features (e.g., JSP-based screens) into performant, accessible React implementations.
  • Implement Shared Container Strategy Contribute to Walmart’s containerized frontend model for consistent behavior across platforms and regions.
  • Enforce Frontend Engineering Best Practices Maintain high-quality standards through code reviews, automated testing, and CI/CD workflows.
  • Enable GenAI-Powered UX Enhancements Collaborate on AI-assisted features that improve user guidance, form efficiency, and input accuracy.
