About The Position

The Senior Software Engineer is responsible for designing, configuring, and testing software programs and applications that enable underwriting business processes for associate-facing technologies for SECURA Insurance. This role involves providing technical and thought leadership within various teams and collaborating with internal and external partners to ensure the success of technology products. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in an IT-related field, or an Associate degree with equivalent experience.
  • Superior oral and written communication skills.
  • Highly motivated, organized, and a self-starter.
  • Results-oriented.
  • 5+ years of Software Engineering experience.
  • Experience with XML/Xpath, SQL, .Net, and object-oriented design/programming.
  • Ability to work with onsite and offshore teams, operating in a hybrid team model.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with agile development teams.
  • Experience working in cross-role functions, such as ScrumMaster, Business Analyst, or Product Owner.
  • Insurance industry experience.
  • Experience with Duck Creek software solutions.
  • Experience with AzureDevOps (ADO).

Responsibilities

  • Configure solutions working with various application teams, and review pull requests of peers.
  • Participate on scrum teams and engage in sprint refinement, daily scrums, sprint planning, sprint demos, and sprint retrospectives; identifying and helping mitigate risks and blockers for the team.
  • Coach and mentor other developers, fostering a knowledge-sharing atmosphere.
  • Partner with product owners to evaluate and prioritize technical debt.
  • Analyze, design, program, test, and implement systems to fulfill business needs or solve problems, utilizing all phases of the system development lifecycle (SDLC).
  • Assist the Technical Lead, setting strategy for implementation, ensuring quality and timely product delivery, and establishing standard processes and best practices.
  • Participate in centers of excellence by developing and enforcing best practices and code review standards.
  • Provide emerging technology thought leadership and planning, and stay current with P&C insurance knowledge and technology trends.
  • Other duties as assigned.
