About The Position

Are you interested in building large-scale. distributed infrastructure services for the cloud? Oracle's Cloud Infrastructure team is building Infrastructure-as-a-Service (IAAS) technologies that operate at high scale in a broadly distributed multi-tenant cloud environment. Our customers run their businesses on our cloud, and our mission is to provide them with industry leading compute, storage, networking, database, security, and an ever expanding set of foundational cloud-based services. As part of this effort, Oracle Cloud Infrastructure's Object Storage Service team is looking for hands-on engineers with a passion for solving problems. You will be working on distributed systems, large scale storage, and highly available services. An engineer at any level can have significant technical and business impact. As a software engineer in this team, you will have the opportunity to own the design and development for major components and features of the Object Storage Service. You should be a solid coder, with interest in distributed systems. You should value simplicity and scale, work comfortably in a collaborative, agile environment, and be excited to learn and be mentored.

Requirements

  • BS in Computer Science or equivalent
  • 1-2+ years experience in software development, preferably in cloud technologies
  • Strong knowledge of Java / C++ and experience with scripting languages such as Python
  • Strong knowledge or coursework in data structures, algorithms, operating systems, and distributed systems fundamentals.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in defining and developing software for tasks associated with the developing, debugging or designing of software applications or operating systems.
  • Provide technical leadership to other software developers.
  • Specify, design and implement modest changes to existing software architecture to meet changing needs.

  • Paid time off: Flexible Vacation is provided to all eligible employees assigned to a salaried (non-overtime eligible) position. Accrued Vacation is provided to all other employees eligible for vacation benefits. For employees working at least 35 hours per week, the vacation accrual rate is 13 days annually for the first three years of employment and 18 days annually for subsequent years of employment. Vacation accrual is prorated for employees working between 20 and 34 hours per week. Employees working fewer than 20 hours per week are not eligible for vacation.
