About The Position
Optum Serve is dedicated to serving the nation's military and Veterans, supporting federal agencies in advancing the U.S. healthcare system and improving the health and well-being of those who serve or have served. As part of Optum Tech, the Software Engineer plays a significant role in solutioning, designing, and developing digital software components for member-facing portals. The role operates in an Agile environment, requiring close collaboration with business product management and a global engineering team. This position involves applying skills in a dynamic, innovative, and forward-thinking environment that adheres to industry best practices and fosters an engineering culture. Optum Serve IT (OSIT) has initiated a multi-year modernization program to update and enhance enterprise technology systems to modern design standards.
Requirements
- 4+ years of software engineering experience
- 3+ years of experience using Java, Javascript, SQL, C#, etc.
- 1+ years of experience with CI/CD and test automation
- United States citizenship is required for this position
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a suitability or determination of eligibility for a Confidential/Secret or Top Secret security clearance
Nice To Haves
- Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or Computer Engineering or related field and/or relevant experience
- 3+ years of experience integrating with RESTful API’s
- 2+ years of experience working with Jenkins CI/CD pipelines
Responsibilities
- Designs, codes, tests and debugs applications and components that meet all technical specifications and business requirements per assigned work items
- Work closely with lead engineers to develop the best technical design and approach for new product development
- Instill best practices for software development and documentation, assure designs meet requirements, and deliver high-quality work on tight schedules
- Translate business requirements into technical solutions, recommend alternative technical and business approaches, and lead engineering efforts to meet aggressive timelines with optimal solutions
