The Department of City Planning (DCP) is dedicated to shaping the future of New York City by fostering thriving neighborhoods, expanding housing and economic opportunities, and ensuring long-term sustainability. The Information Technology Division (ITD) within DCP is responsible for developing technological solutions, maintaining system infrastructure, and providing citywide geospatial services. The GeoSupport Services (GSS) unit, a part of ITD, specifically focuses on the maintenance and enhancement of the GeoSupport system. This system processes geographic locations across New York City to generate unique geospatial references for various city entities like boroughs, community districts, tax blocks, lots, street stretches, and intersections. These geo-processed references are vital for integrating into internal and external system workflows, data analysis, map-based visual representation, conflict resolution, and collaboration. The GSS unit is comprised of software engineers specializing in Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and web service design, utilizing diverse technology stacks and cloud computing infrastructure. The Senior Software Engineer role within GSS involves full-stack web application development and service design using Microsoft .NET, C#, SQL Server, and Azure. The successful candidate will join an agile development team to design, develop, and maintain the next-generation GeoSupport system services and applications. This position requires collaboration with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality software solutions that meet business requirements, while ensuring performance, scalability, security, and accessibility to manage approximately 70 billion GeoSupport service calls annually.
