About The Position

This position is part of the AWS Specialist and Partner Organization (ASP). Specialists own the end-to-end go-to-market strategy for their respective technology domains, providing the business and technical expertise to help our customers succeed. Partner teams own the strategy, recruiting, development, and growth of our key technology and consulting partners. Together they provide our customers with the expertise and scale needed to build innovative solutions for their most complex challenges. AWS RTB Fabric is looking for a Senior SDE to build and scale a real-time bidding infrastructure service processing millions of transactions per second for ad-tech customers. The platform spans a high-throughput Rust proxy broker operating under sub-100ms latency constraints, a serverless Java/Kotlin control plane and provisioning engine (Lambda, API Gateway, DynamoDB, Step Functions, CDK), and CDK-defined infrastructure across a cell-based, multi-region architecture. You will work across this stack — from Rust performance engineering to serverless workflow orchestration — leading projects end-to-end, working directly with customers, and mentoring engineers as we scale to millions of QPS. Your morning starts with production metrics, latency percentiles, TLS handshake rates, customer traffic across regions, then into the Rust codebase tuning broker performance or validating a TLS optimization under load. After lunch you might be writing Kotlin for a new Step Functions provisioning workflow, defining Smithy models for a control plane API, or updating CDK stacks for a new managed endpoint type. You close the day deploying through the multi-stage pipeline, canary rollout via EKS for the broker, CDK-driven CloudFormation for the control plane, collaborating with a tight-knit team building something that didn't exist two years ago. RTB Fabric launched GA in October 2025 within AWS Marketplace, processing millions of TPS across six regions for ad-tech customers. The platform combines a Rust broker with zero-copy hot paths and a module-chain architecture, a Java/Kotlin control plane and provisioning engine on Lambda with Step Functions orchestration, and cell-based multi-account infrastructure managed through CDK. We made deliberate technical bets, thread-local concurrency over shared-state locking, serverless orchestration over monolithic provisioning, and we use AI-assisted development extensively. We want engineers energized by hard problems across the full stack who thrive in fast-paced, startup-like environments.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
  • 5+ years of programming with at least one software programming language experience
  • 5+ years of leading design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
  • Experience as a mentor, tech lead or leading an engineering team

Nice To Haves

  • 5+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent

Responsibilities

  • Design and deliver features across RTB Fabric's Rust broker (millions of transactions per second), Java/Kotlin control plane, and provisioning engine, deployed across six AWS regions.
  • Drive broker performance and reliability: TLS optimization, adaptive concurrency, connection management, and zero-copy hot-path engineering.
  • Build and extend control plane APIs and Step Functions provisioning workflows that manage customer infrastructure — gateways, links, managed endpoints (EKS, ASG, ELB), VPC networking, and certificate lifecycle.
  • Design infrastructure-as-code using AWS CDK, including CloudFormation template generation, multi-cell deployment patterns, and cross-account resource management.
  • Own operational excellence: observability (CloudWatch/EMF), alarming, capacity planning, and deployment automation.
  • Work directly with ad-tech customers to debug integrations and deliver solutions meeting OpenRTB standards.
  • Mentor teammates and participate in on-call for an AWS Tier 1 service where downtime directly impacts customer revenue.

Benefits

  • health insurance (medical, dental, vision, prescription, Basic Life & AD&D insurance and option for Supplemental life plans, EAP, Mental Health Support, Medical Advice Line, Flexible Spending Accounts, Adoption and Surrogacy Reimbursement coverage)
  • 401(k) matching
  • paid time off
  • parental leave
