About The Position

Electra is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to support the development of flight software at Electra. This role will initially support work on Electra's EL2 aircraft, and then transition to supporting the EL9 Ultra Short development. This is an incredible opportunity to make a direct impact on a cutting-edge development program.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in an Engineering discipline with at least 5+ years of relevant experience (or an equivalent combination of education and experience)
• Proficiency with Matlab and scripting
• Experience with C, JavaScript and Git
• Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a cross-functional, team-oriented environment.
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.

Nice To Haves

• Proficiency with HTML
• Familiarization with networking and Linux
• Knowledge of communication protocols e.g. UDP, CAN, serial
• Troubleshooting embedded systems, scoping, bus sniffing, etc.
• Experience with UX/GUI design using web frameworks like node.js
• Experience with electronics, embedded systems and/or or avionics integration and testing
• Experience with aviation software standards, particularly DO-178C, software certification and regulatory processes.
• Experience across the full life-cycle development of aircraft systems, from initial design and analysis to testing, certification, and operational monitoring.
• Experience working on fly-by-wire and/or electric propulsion aircraft systems.
• Data visualization and presentation skills
• Private pilot certificate.

Responsibilities

• Support the continued development of EL2 flight software, including pilot displays, FTI systems, and flight control computers.
• Support the analysis of flight test data related to the onboard flight control and computational systems of the EL2.
• Participate in code reviews
• Address and resolve complex software engineering challenges, using a combination of technical expertise and problem-solving skills.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams consisting of engineering, operations, program leadership, suppliers and certification leads, to ensure successful project execution.
• Other duties as assigned.
