The Systems Engineering and Test Capabilities (SETC) Surface Radars and Sensors Center is currently looking for a Senior Software Engineer to support the Systems Engineering Long Range Radars (SELRR) department. The SELRR department provides subject matter expertise for concept development, architectural design, requirements generation & flow-down, modeling and simulation, systems analysis, integration, test and evaluation of world-class Missile Defense & Sensor Systems to be achieved through our people, processes, technology and performance. The Senior Software Engineer position will support independent research and development efforts in providing leading edge software solutions for our customers. This role aligns to the core Agile and DevSecOps principles of collaborative operation across the entire value stream, delivering high-frequency, high-quality deployments to our customers. You will be part of a dynamic workforce whose knowledge base covers the complete spectrum of modern computing languages and platforms ensuring technical excellence in our solutions. This is an onsite role in Colorado Springs, CO.

Requirements

  • Typically requires a Bachelor’s in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 5 years of prior relevant experience.
  • Experience with software development, test, and/or integration using Java, Python, or C++.
  • Experience with Message Broker applications, such as RabbitMQ.
  • Experience with debugging tools for identifying and resolving software defects.

Nice To Haves

  • Advanced Degree in STEM.
  • Knowledge of the Missile Defense Agency domain to include experience with XBR, AN/TPY-2, COBRA DANE, QEWR, UEWR, SRP or other current missile defense programs.
  • Prior development experience with U.S. launcher systems.
  • Experience with radar system concepts; detection, discrimination, track and signal processing algorithms and their behaviors and performance.
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills.
  • Experience working in Agile environments such as scrum, scrum at scale, SAFe and DevSecOps.
  • Ability to work in a fast paced, dynamic environment with time-critical requirements.
  • Experience contributing to a team environment for the purpose of developing creative solutions to difficult technical problems.
  • Experience with tools such as Atlassian Suite (e.g., Bitbucket, Artifactory, Crucible, Fisheye, Jira, and Confluence), Jenkins, GitLab, Eclipse, VS Code, and Ansible.
  • Experience with Script languages (Bash, C shell, Perl).
  • Experience with Graphical User Interface development; experience with NodeJS, React, Angular, or other GUI applications.
  • Experience working with SQL databases, such as MySQL or MariaDB.
  • Experience in continuous integration/continuous development (CI/CD) environments and configuring pipelines.
  • Knowledge of Red Hat and Linux operating systems.
  • Proficiency in using the Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Experience working independently and in geographically distributed team environments.
  • Ability to collaborate with other disciplines and communicate effectively at all levels of the organization and with external stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and test software in an agile, collaborative environment, delivering prototype capabilities for proof-of-concept demonstrations.
  • Participate in agile execution and continuous improvement.
  • Work collaboratively with team of engineers to analyze, implement, and test software modifications to the existing system baseline.
  • Present plans, designs, and system performance to peers, and internal leadership.
