The Global Governance and Security Risk Management team at Walmart plays a critical role in safeguarding the world's largest retail ecosystem. Operating at the intersection of innovation and security, our team is responsible for designing and delivering platforms that enforce compliance, ensure secure access, building highly impactful and scalable solutions. We partner closely with business, product, and technology teams to embed security into every layer of Walmart's digital operations, enabling the business to scale confidently and securely. The team is also actively exploring and applying cutting-edge Generative AI and agentic technologies to drive automation, intelligent risk mitigation, and adaptive security frameworks across the enterprise. As a Senior Software Engineer, you will lead and participate in medium- to large-scale projects by reviewing project requirements; translating requirements into technical solutions; gathering requested information (for example, design documents, product requirements, wire frames); writing and developing code; conducting unit testing; communicating status and issues to team members and stakeholders; collaborating with project team and cross functional teams; troubleshooting open issues and bug-fixes; ensuring on-time delivery and hand-offs; interacting with project manager to provide inputs on project plan; and providing updates to the project team. You will be more responsible for designing, developing, and deploying scalable full stack applications, including user interfaces, backend services, data pipelines, and AI/ML integrations.

  • Architect, design, and implement end-to-end full stack applications using modern frameworks (React, Angular, Node.js, Java, Python, etc.).
  • Develop robust backend APIs and microservices, ensuring scalability, security, and performance.
  • Build and optimize data pipelines for real-time and batch processing (using tools such as Apache Kafka, Spark, Airflow, BigQuery, etc.).
  • Integrate AI/ML models into applications, collaborating with data scientists and following Walmart's AI/ML governance and security standards.
  • Ensure all solutions comply with Walmart's Solution Security Plan (SSP), data governance, privacy, and regulatory requirements.
  • Implement CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and monitoring for production-grade deployments.
  • Collaborate with product managers, UX designers, and other engineers to deliver seamless user experiences.
  • Mentor junior engineers and promote best practices in software engineering, security, and DevOps.
  • At least 5 years of experience as Software Engineer with Strong development experience in Node, typescript, Java, Postgres, Azure Cosmos DB, Kafka, and GitHub and NoSQL, Python.
  • Experience with cloud application development including scalable, data driven, and message-oriented architecture.
  • A disciplined approach to development, code review, testing, documentation and code structure in a team environment.
  • A constant desire to improve, learn more and take things to the next level and a passion for adopting the latest features in Kubernetes, Java, Node, Python.
  • Knowledge of technologies used in building scalable, distributed systems in virtualized cloud environments.
  • Ability to design for fault tolerance and high availability.
  • Experience coding in object-oriented programming with Java, Typescript.
  • Experience designing and implementing REST API web services using Java, Typescript.
  • Experience designing and implementing Kafka and implementing Azure Cosmos DB events processing (CDC).
  • Experience writing Unit Tests, Functional Tests, and Integration Tests.
  • Experience in AI tools to improve the developer Productivity in creating applications.
  • Experience in AI, Gen AI, Agentic AI, LLM's, creating chatbots etc,.
  • Master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Computer Information Systems, Software Engineering, or related area and 1 year's experience in software engineering or related area.
