About The Position

Lockheed Martin’s Victor Portfolio of Space Security is seeking a highly skilled, motivated, and experienced Senior Software Engineer to join an Agile, cross‑functional team dedicated to protecting critical space assets. This role will focus on developing web‑based applications within an open‑architecture infrastructure that supports mission‑critical space‑security operations. The successful candidate will collaborate with internal development teams and subject‑matter experts, and thrive in a fast‑paced environment where each day brings new challenges. Applicants selected will be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information, and must maintain the required security throughout the course of employment. This position is contingent upon the program award expected in Summer of 2026

Requirements

  • Proficiency in modern languages such as Java, C#, Python, or JavaScript/TypeScript; strong understanding of object‑oriented design and principles.
  • Hands‑on experience with RESTful APIs, HTML5, CSS3, modern JavaScript frameworks (e.g., React, Angular, Vue), and UI/UX best practices.
  • Familiarity with pipelines (Jenkins, GitLab CI, Azure DevOps), containerization (Docker, Kubernetes), and version control (Git).
  • Proven track record working in Scrum or Kanban teams; comfortable with iterative development and rapid feedback cycles.
  • US citizenship is required to obtain a government security clearance
  • Active DOD Top Security Clearance with an investigation or Continuous Vetting (CV) date within 5 years

Nice To Haves

  • Experienced with Horizon software application providing command and control services for satellites, antennas, and ground hardware assets.
  • Experience in application containerization (e.g. Docker, Kubernetes, Helm, etc.) in a cloud environment (AWS/Azure/Openstack/Openshift)
  • Hands‑on experience with RESTful APIs, HTML5, CSS3, modern JavaScript frameworks (e.g., React, Angular, Vue), and UI/UX best practices.
  • Domain Experience in Mission Management, Planning and Scheduling, Orbital Mechanics, SSA (Space Situational Awareness)

Responsibilities

  • Full‑Lifecycle Development – Design, implement, test, deploy, and maintain web applications and services that enable space‑asset protection.
  • Agile Collaboration – Participate in Scrum ceremonies (stand‑ups, sprint planning, retrospectives) and contribute to continuous‑improvement of team processes.
  • Open‑Architecture Integration – Build modular, reusable components that conform to open‑architecture standards and facilitate integration with existing and future mission systems.
  • Technical Leadership – Mentor junior engineers, conduct code reviews, and drive adoption of best practices (CI/CD, automated testing, secure coding, performance profiling).
  • Stakeholder Engagement – Work closely with domain experts to translate mission needs into technical solutions.
