About The Position

Senior Software Engineer
Location: This position is based in New York City, and in-office attendance is required Monday-Thursday with the ability to be remote on Friday.
Who we are looking for:
5+ years of professional Software Engineering experience with significant involvement in complex systems within a scaling startup environment
Deep expertise in TypeScript/Node.js or transferable backend technologies
Strong opinions on system design, data modeling, and API architecture, with the ability to advocate for your ideas effectively
Proven track record of delivering features end-to-end and taking responsibility for outcomes, not just code
Experience in mentoring other engineers through code reviews, pairing, and providing technical leadership
Bonus points for experience with serverless or even-driven architectures at scales
Bonus points for having a background in developing AI-powered features or working with large language models (LLMs) in a production environment
Bonus points for familiarity with fintech, tax, or other domains that involve complex business logic and compliance requirements
What you’ll be doing:
Owning the design and implementation of essential platform features, which include complex tax calculation engines and document processing pipelines
Making architectural choices that strike a balance between quick delivery and long-term maintainability of the system
Mentoring engineers on the team to elevate the overall code quality and technical practices
Partnering with Product and Customer Success teams to scope and develop technical solutions for new product lines
Continuously improving our infrastructure, tooling and developer experience as the company grows
Our tech stack: TypeScript end-to-end. Serverless architecture on AWS using SST. PostgreSQL with Drizzle ORM. RAG pipelines integrated with Pinecone and LLMs across the product. We adopt a pragmatic approach to technology, prioritizing effective problem-solving over rigid adherence to any technology dogma.
