We’re looking for a Software Engineer with strong experience in mainly frontend but also has interest and some working knowledge of building APIs for web applications that will be used by tens of millions of American Express customers around the world. We want someone with strong technical skills including React.js and Java and/or .NET. Should enjoy solving tough problems and working with new technologies to design and execute. You should not be shy about sharing your ideas and be enthusiastic about user experience and high quality. You’ll be working in a fast-paced environment as part of the Business Blueprint team whose directive is to develop and the business blueprint product suite for American Express business customers. You should be familiar with modern software development methodologies and be able to dive deep and rapidly iterate on ideas despite ambiguity.

Requirements

4-7 years of technical experience in a software development organization with a Bachelor’s or master’s degree in science computer science, Engineering or other related disciplines
Strong programming knowledge in JavaScript and React
Moderate programming knowledge in Java / .NET
Experience in developing REST APIs.
Experience working in JavaScript and able to demonstrate good JavaScript knowledge
Experience with Micro front-end architecture
Able to demonstrate solid web fundamentals & knowledge of DOM
Experience writing adaptive and responsive UI applications
Knowledge of HTML5, React, Redux, Angular, Node
Experience with automated tested and unit testing
Experience with Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery (CI/CD) environment and their frameworks
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
Experience with Agile software development methodology (SCRUM)
Has exposure to a variety of distributed infrastructure technologies and systems
Deals well with ambiguous/under defined problems; able to think abstractly
Ability to adapt to a constantly evolving environment
Experience with CI/CD programming is a plus

Responsibilities

Contribute to an agile team by leading user story analysis and feature grooming, solutioning, and developing thorough features and test-cases
Ensure excellent application usability through careful manual testing
Lead collaborations with Product teams, development teams and backend teams to plan, test, and release high-quality features in the applications
Provide direct oversight in estimation and assessment of feasibility of features.
Cultivate consistent development standard methodologies
Function as a lead member of an agile team by contributing to software builds through consistent development practices (tools, common components, and documentation) and guiding your teammates day to day
Demonstrate consistent self-reliance to achieve engineering and business goals
Heavily participate in code reviews and automated testing
Debug complex software components and identify code defects for remediation.
Lead the deployment, support, and monitoring of software across test, integration, and production environments
Automate deployments in test or production environments
Automatically scale applications based on demand projections
Confidently be able to trace, debug, resolve production issues and report root cause analysis to leaders and business partners rapidly
Successfully be able to manage multiple features at once and delegate work across your peers through execution including the ability to solution, refine and delivery with various tech teams and product partners
Understands the businesses objectives and how your team directly correlates to the businesses KPIs
Ability to report timelines reliably and confidently for features and forecast target dates based off the rapid changes that might arise.
