About The Position

As a Senior Software Engineer, you will drive secure, scalable software development by collaborating across business, product, and engineering teams to deliver high-quality solutions aligned with Sam's Club standards. Lead fraud prevention initiatives by analyzing account takeover and fraudulent activity patterns, and implementing advanced detection strategies and rule optimizations. Champion cross-functional excellence through hands-on coding, testing, and mentoring, ensuring robust site security and seamless user experiences. As a Senior Software Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in designing and guiding strategic initiatives that enhance authentication and authorization capabilities across Sam's Contact Center platform.

Requirements

  • Experience coding in one of the following object-oriented programming languages: Java or C.
  • Experience with Object Oriented design and software development. Experience with Spring Boot applications.
  • Experience with client server architecture and mobile systems architecture.
  • Experience with Authentication protocols: OAuth 2.0 and SSO.
  • Experience using Project Management tools JIRA and Confluence.
  • Experience with cloud technologies using Azure and GCP.
  • Experience with GCP Components including Dataflow, Pub Sub (Kafka) and Big Query for data classification.
  • Employer will accept any amount of graduate coursework, graduate research experience or professional experience with the required skills.
  • Option 1: Bachelor's degree in computer science, computer engineering, computer information systems, software engineering, or related area and 3 years' experience in software engineering or related area.
  • Option 2: 5 years' experience in software engineering or related area.

  • Master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Computer Information Systems, Software Engineering, or related area and 1 year's experience in software engineering or related area.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and oversee projects focused on implementing secure and scalable authentication and authorization solutions.
  • Provide architectural direction for initiatives leveraging Google Cloud Platform (GCP), including data classification for login workflows and seamless user activity across the website.
  • Define and implement modern architectural patterns for Auth/Login and Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) services.
  • Conduct comprehensive design reviews to ensure alignment with security, scalability, and performance standards.
  • Perform rigorous code reviews and disaster recovery testing for microservices supporting authentication, registration, and contact center operations.
  • Ensure high availability and fault tolerance across critical systems.
  • Manage and resolve production issues related to registration, contact center, and authentication services.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure timely and effective incident response.
  • Mentor junior engineers through code reviews, technical guidance, and task delegation.
  • Foster a culture of continuous learning and engineering excellence within the team.
  • Maintain and enhance dashboards and monitoring systems to proactively detect system errors, trigger alerts, and ensure platform stability.
