The position involves utilizing knowledge to improve the consistency, reliability, and performance of Reddit's foundational systems. The role contributes to the internal infrastructure that all of Reddit Engineering uses to develop, deploy, and operate their services. The candidate will work closely with engineering teams in designing and developing systems that are resilient and highly performant at tremendous scale. Responsibilities include identifying and building capabilities into Reddit's foundational Infrastructure and Platform services, which are used by Reddit engineering teams to build, deploy, and operate. The role also involves automating repetitive, manual, or risky tasks, building tools, and integrating systems to support Reddit's evolution. The candidate will identify and fix network, system, and service-level issues with distributed systems, practice sustainable incident response, and drive structural improvement with blameless postmortems. Observing and improving performance, reducing costs, and enhancing the experience for millions of users are also key aspects of the job. Telecommuting is an option, but some travel to Reddit offices may be required.
