About The Position

The Public Cloud Engineering (PCE) team builds solutions that enable cloud adoption in Bloomberg at enterprise scale. When operating at this level, our solutions need to be highly scalable, maintainable and secure. To meet these requirements, we build self-serve platforms with proper control mechanisms in place. These automations allow us to address business needs in a timely manner, without sacrificing or compromising the organization's control needs. Being part of the PCE team, you will play a critical role in Bloomberg's public cloud adoption. You will work closely with client or external facing teams who build applications to drive business growth, and internal focused teams who make sure cost, security and resilience are not compromised at any time. You will have an opportunity to make decisions on how best to solve problems, either building them from scratch, using a cloud provider or a vendor solution, or a combination of the two. You will also have the opportunity to learn Bloomberg proprietary technologies and be able to integrate your solution to it, which will be part of the market leading FinTech solution.

Requirements

• A degree in Computer Science, Engineering or similar field of study, or equivalent work experience.
• Experience designing and building distributed systems and their operational aspects.
• Experience with Infrastructure as Code tools, such as Terraform.
• Proficiency with programming languages like Python and Golang.
• Experience working on network monitoring in one of the leading public cloud providers, such as Amazon Web Services (AWS), Microsoft Azure Cloud, or Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
• Experience troubleshooting Linux networking and system issues.

Nice To Haves

• Architect level certification from one or more public cloud providers.
• Expertise in analyzing and fixing large-scale distributed systems.
• Experience working in a multi-cloud and multi tenant environment.
• Experience building cloud native architectures on either AWS, Azure or GCP.
• Experience working with customized Terraform providers.

Responsibilities

• Strong understanding of networking fundamentals and network security.
• Solid knowledge of distributed systems architecture and operations.
• Familiarity with cloud security models and control mechanisms (IAM, service principals, network policies) in public cloud technologies.
• Experience building automation and self service tools for infrastructure and networking tasks.
• Ability to analyze complex problems and design scalable, abstracted solutions.
