We are looking for an experienced engineer with a strong track record of solving tooling pain points, automating away toil, and designing systems to help teams deliver software faster, more safely, and more reliably. You possess the skills and credibility to lead our engineering team by example and are energized by mentoring and supporting your fellow engineers. Frequent forays into uncharted territory require our team to be highly adaptable and always ready to learn. We serve as trailblazers for the rest of Mixpanel engineering.

Requirements

• 8+ years of coding experience.
• Expert in at least one programming language ecosystem, preferably Go, Python, or JavaScript/TypeScript.
• Production experience managing Kubernetes at scale.
• Production experience managing infrastructure in a major cloud provider such as Google Cloud Platform, Amazon Web Services, or Azure.
• Proficiency with observability solutions like OpenTelemetry, Prometheus, or Distributed Tracing.

Nice To Haves

• Excellent documentation skills.
• Proficient with GitHub Actions and the GitHub ecosystem.
• Experience maintaining Continuous Integration jobs.
• Experience building deployment pipelines, preferably with GitOps.
• Bazel expertise.
• Experience with Terraform.
• Experience with cloud Identity and Access Management (IAM) systems.
• Knowledge of security best practices.
• Experience implementing Internal Developer Platforms like Backstage.
• Working knowledge of site reliability engineering (SRE) principles.

Responsibilities

• Partner with a wide variety of teams to build out their software development lifecycle to be optimized for speed, safety, and reliability.
• Support teams writing front-end UI code as well as teams maintaining highly stateful storage systems.
• Manage systems that ingest more than 1 trillion user-generated events every month while ensuring end-to-end latencies of under a minute.
• Administer the cloud environment on Google Cloud Platform and Google Kubernetes Engine.
• Set standards for deployment, observability, and developer experience.
• Maintain observability pipelines and instrument over 30 million Prometheus metrics time series.
• Maintain GitHub Actions based CI/CD pipelines and a robust GitHub-native delivery process.
• Manage the devbox system that provisions cloud development environments for individual developers.
• Procure best-in-breed SaaS tooling for the rest of engineering.
• Run the new engineer onboarding process.
