About The Position

The Senior Software Engineer for Platform as a Service (PaaS) at Bloomberg will be responsible for developing and managing a multi-tenant system that automates the deployment of Docker images to Kubernetes. This role involves collaborating with various engineering teams to create scalable and robust systems, while also keeping abreast of the latest software trends and technologies. The position emphasizes a strong commitment to open-source principles and aims to enhance the overall developer experience at Bloomberg.

Requirements

• 4+ years of programming experience with an object-oriented programming language
• A degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or similar field of study or equivalent work experience
• Ability to keep up with current trends and technologies
• Experience with Kubernetes and/or Docker

Nice To Haves

• Experience with Golang and JavaScript/TypeScript
• Experience developing RESTful APIs

Responsibilities

• Work on highly visible projects that support critically important use cases without close supervision
• Build with cloud and container orchestration technologies (Docker/Kubernetes/OpenStack)
• Design and implement features and tools following standard software development methodologies
• Collaborate with team members and other engineering teams to design scalable and robust systems
• Proactively recommend and contribute improvements to the platform
• Work with a variety of technologies to develop innovative solutions
• Research and keep the team aware of the latest software trends
