Why You’ll Love This Role Platform Engineering at Cribl is responsible for creating and maintaining the foundational software infrastructure that supports our entire ecosystem of products. This includes designing scalable systems, shared services, developer tools, and core components that other product teams rely on to build customer-facing features quickly and reliably. In this role, you’ll also work closely with Product and other business functions while collaborating with your direct team to own and deliver end-to-end features and functionality for our alerting and observability platform. As a Senior Software Engineer specializing in metrics, you will bring your experience and expertise to help your team build intelligent, responsive alerting capabilities. You will have the opportunity to tackle complex observability challenges, owning the design, implementation, and rollout of alerting infrastructure with the support of your team.

Requirements

Demonstrated experience building products that leverage large scale data sets (Node.js/Typescript)
Experience with time-series databases and columnar storage systems (ClickHouse experience is a plus)
Strong knowledge of data structures, algorithms, distributed systems, and scalability principles.
Knowledge of systems level debugging, networking, performance profiling and tuning.
Enjoy learning new technologies and ability to understand how to root cause complex problems
Experience with Agile processes and rapid iterative development
Strong sense of ownership with focus on high quality and high performing deliverables
Experience developing software or services for cloud based platforms
Bachelor's / Master’s degree in Computer Science or similar field
Prior experience working on data intensive applications and/or data streams processing
Experience using Docker and cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, GCP
Familiarity with observability tools like Grafana, ELK stack, or similar solutions
Experience with CI/CD pipelines such as BitBucket, Jenkins, CircleCI, etc.
Linux and or systems knowledge and experience

Responsibilities

Develop software for projects and features with an emphasis on backend systems and APIs responsible for ingesting, processing, and routing data
Design, develop, test, and maintain clear, concise, and robust code that produces the desired outcomes for our customers
Partner with a cross functional team of engineers, designers, and product managers to translate feature specifications into product designs and implementable code
Optimize time-series data storage and query performance for high-volume metrics and telemetry data
Ensure product features are working as expected by creating rich test plans paired with comprehensive automated tests
Mentor and coach junior engineers on the design and implementation of their code
Have end-to-end ownership of the software you develop, regularly participating in your team’s on-call/support rotation
Be a driver, take the initiative to help the larger team reach desired outcomes even if it’s outside your job description
