As a Senior Software Engineer - Mainframe within PNC's Home Lending organization, you will be based in Philadelphia PA, Pittsburgh PA, Strongsville OH, Dallas TX or Birmingham AL. Responsibilities require time in the office or in the field on a regular basis. This position is primarily based in a location within PNC’s footprint. PNC will not provide sponsorship for employment visas or participate in STEM OPT for this position.

Requirements

  • Proven experience with COBOL programming in a mainframe environment.
  • Hands-on experience with CICS for transaction processing.
  • Familiarity with JCL (Job Control Language).
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with DB2 database systems.
  • Knowledge of VSAM and other mainframe data storage methods.
  • Exposure to Agile or waterfall development methodologies.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain applications using COBOL and CICS on IBM mainframe systems.
  • Analyze business requirements and translate them into technical solutions.
  • Perform code reviews, unit testing, and debugging.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including QA, business analysts, and project managers.
  • Provide production support and troubleshoot issues in a timely manner.
  • Document technical specifications and maintain system documentation.
