About The Position

Google's software engineers develop the next-generation technologies that change how billions of users connect, explore, and interact with information and one another. As a software engineer, you will work on a specific project critical to Google’s needs with opportunities to switch teams and projects as you and our fast-paced business grow and evolve. We need our engineers to be versatile, display leadership qualities and be enthusiastic to take on new problems across the full-stack as we continue to push technology forward. As a Senior Software Engineer, you will play a key role in advancing the AI computing capabilities of the Web Platform. You will contribute to expanding the quality of the AI models and by default, the AI APIs we deliver to users. You will work on AI advancements, collaborating with many cross-functional partners and experts to deliver high-impact solutions. With your technical expertise, you will manage project priorities, deadlines, and deliverables. You will design, develop, test, deploy, maintain, and enhance software solutions. Chrome is dedicated to building a better, more open web. We’re focused on making a better browser (on both desktop and mobile) to help users take advantage of all the web has to offer in a safe and secure way.Chrome is available across all major platforms — iOS, Android, Windows, Mac, Linux and Chrome OS. We also built Chrome as an open source project so the entire web ecosystem could benefit from the latest innovations in speed, simplicity and security.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience.
  • 5 years of experience developing in C++ or Python.
  • 5 years of experience in software development using one or more programming languages.
  • 3 years of experience with machine learning algorithms and tools (e.g., TensorFlow), artificial intelligence, deep learning or natural language processing.

Nice To Haves

  • Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science, or a related technical field.
  • 5 years of experience with data structures and algorithms, with 1 year of experience in a technical leadership role.
  • Experience running AI inference on-device.
  • Experience in ML performance, systems data analysis, ML debugging, LLMs, or specialized areas within ML.

Responsibilities

  • Work in C++ in our Chrome and Chromium codebase.
  • Improve the on-device performance of Gemini Nano.
  • Develop new debugging tools in DevTools to support the built-In AI APIs.
  • Develop new built-In AI JavaScript APIs and write API specifications.
  • Integrate new LLM models and LLM fine tuning to improve model performance.
