Senior Software Engineer - Language Tools
About The Position
The Go & Python tools team is part of the Language Foundations organization. Our team works on building tooling and automation in support of the Go developer experience at Datadog. As a software engineer on the Go & Python tools team, you will be responsible for shaping the way Python is used across Datadog by advancing our tools, promoting best practices, and solving complex development challenges. Requirements
- You practice simplicity as a means to produce stable and maintainable software.
- Experienced in evolving and maintaining large-scale Python codebases and deeply understand software lifecycle challenges.
- A strong communicator and mentor who amplifies the impact of other engineers by sharing knowledge and improving tooling.
- A strategic thinker who can anticipate and manage the broader impact of technical decisions across a large engineering organization.
- You believe in using your own tools to better understand and improve them.
- BS/MS/PhD degree in a Computer Science, Engineering or related scientific field or equivalent experience
Responsibilities
- Evolve and advocate for Python language best practices across engineering teams.
- Keep Datadog's Python ecosystem modern and efficient by researching and adopting relevant new language features, tools, and libraries.
- Triage and resolve complex tooling or performance issues.
- Build internal tools and automation to enhance Python developer productivity and confidence in making code changes.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to identify developer pain points and deliver targeted improvements to the Python development workflow.
