About The Position

Nooks is hiring a Senior Software Engineer to support the Integrated Security Enterprise (ISE) directly. This role is a critical link between operational field insights and the Digital Product team, ensuring the security of space operations across the US Space Force classified enterprise. As a key member of the engineering team, you will translate ISE pain points and ideated solutions into robust software requirements. You will primarily focus on developing the backend for our current apps and the Digital Product platform, extending capabilities and building new solutions to protect Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) data from unauthorized access or compromise.

Requirements

• 6+ years of software engineering experience with a focus on backend architecture.
• Technical Stack: Extensive experience with Python, FastAPI, Postgres, AWS, Docker, Kubernetes, and Terraform.
• Proven ability to translate complex operational needs into technical solutions, ideally with experience supporting DoD or Intelligence Community (IC) programs.
• Understanding of the unique security requirements associated with space systems, ground stations, and the US Space Force classified enterprise.
• A habit of self-directed learning and the ability to own technical problems end-to-end in a fast-paced startup environment.
• Candidate must be a United States citizen and capable of maintaining Security eligibility up to the Secret level within 45 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Translate field-level data, operational metrics, and ISE pain points into technical software requirements to refine digital tools and policies.
• Architect and develop backend services and APIs for the Digital Product team using technologies like Python and FastAPI.
• Extend the capabilities of current Nooks applications and architect new solutions that support the ISE framework and mission-critical national security operations.
• Build secure, multi-tenant services on public cloud platforms (AWS/GCP) that comply with regulations like ICD 503 and CNSSI 1253.
• Partner with Design and Product teams on the “what, when, who, and why” of software delivery while providing technical guidance to ensure system reliability.
