About The Position
TikTok is the leading destination for short-form mobile video, and our mission is to inspire creativity and bring joy. As a Senior Software Engineer on the Infrastructure team, you will play a crucial role in building and optimizing TikTok's search engine, which is essential for providing users with the best search experience. The Search Team is responsible for developing a full-stack search engine system that integrates information retrieval technology with modern machine learning methods, including natural language processing (NLP), computer vision (CV), and recommender systems. We foster a culture of self-direction, intellectual curiosity, openness, and problem-solving, encouraging team members to innovate and grow together. In this role, you will be tasked with optimizing search quality to enhance user experience. You will leverage your understanding of product objectives and apply modern machine learning and information retrieval techniques to improve search quality and perception. Your responsibilities will include building core systems and algorithms related to query understanding, result ranking, query recommendation, and system reliability. Depending on your experience, you may also have the opportunity to mentor and lead peers, contributing to the growth of the team and the overall success of TikTok's search capabilities.
