About the position

At Coinbase, our mission is to increase economic freedom in the world. It’s a massive, ambitious opportunity that demands the best of us, every day, as we build the emerging onchain platform — and with it, the future global financial system. As a Senior Software Engineer focused on FinOps at Coinbase, you will be at the intersection of engineering and finance, driving cost efficiency and accountability across our platforms. This role involves a combination of strategic financial planning, vendor management, and technical execution to optimize cloud spending and improve cost visibility. Your efforts will directly contribute to the effective management of cloud resources and financial outcomes. The Coinbase FinOps team is part of the CCOE (Cloud Center of Excellence) and since 2023 worked closely with internal and external stakeholders to optimize rates and usage across Cloud and SaaS providers. Our goal is to continue to build on top of a strong foundation in order to shift left our cost controls and enable best-in-class cloud usage. A strong focus on software engineering allows our team to match other engineering teams in skill. Our focus on FinOps is our specialization.
