  • Proven ability to lead complex technical initiatives and deliver outcomes across ambiguous or undefined problem spaces, from problem definition and architecture through implementation and rollout
  • Proficiency with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform preferred) and modern CI/CD systems
  • Experience with Ruby or willingness to learn, with Golang and/or Python experience as a plus (not mandatory) for building infrastructure services and internal tooling
  • Strong understanding of containerized systems and distributed architectures
  • Demonstrated impact improving developer experience and internal tooling at scale by making data-driven decisions
  • Strong expertise in observability, reliability, and incident response practices
  • Experience serving as a technical leader in on-call rotations, handling incidents and guiding resolution
  • Experience mentoring engineers and collaborating closely with junior team members on projects you lead
  • AI fluency: you’ve explored AI tools and can identify opportunities to leverage automation and intelligence to improve developer workflows

Responsibilities

  • Lead the design and evolution of infrastructure and developer tooling by driving strategic initiatives that enable Homebase engineers to build, test, and ship efficiently at scale
  • Own and deliver large, ambiguous problem spaces end-to-end - from identifying opportunities, defining problems, and designing architecture to implementing and rolling out scalable solutions
  • Architect and optimize AWS infrastructure for reliability, scalability, cost-efficiency, and performance
  • Set technical direction and best practices for infrastructure and DevEx, influencing decisions across teams
  • Act as a technical leader and escalation point for complex infrastructure challenges and production incidents
  • Mentor junior engineers, partnering with them on projects they lead and supporting their growth through hands-on collaboration and guidance
  • Partner cross-functionally with product, platform, and security teams to align infrastructure investments with business goals
  • Drive innovation through experimentation with AI-powered observability, automation, and workflow improvements
  • Continuously improve system reliability and developer productivity through metrics, feedback loops, and iterative enhancements
