This role is for a Senior Software Engineer II at RELX, a global provider of information-based analytics and decision tools for professional and business customers. The position involves leading the implementation and configuration of Salesforce Marketing Cloud, supporting development across Sales Cloud, building and maintaining Apex code, Lightning Web Components, Flows, and integrations. The engineer will also improve marketing workflows, assist with legacy system migrations, manage development tasks and deployments, apply best practices, troubleshoot production issues, and participate in Agile ceremonies. Accountabilities include implementing development processes, coding best practices, code reviews, operating in various development environments, resolving complex technical issues, staying abreast of new technological developments, designing complex data models, and mentoring less-senior software developers.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of Salesforce development experience (Sales and/or Marketing Cloud).
  • Hands-on experience with Marketing Cloud (AMPscript, SQL, APIs) and Pardot.
  • Strong knowledge of Sales Cloud core objects and automation tools (Flows, Process Builder, Validation Rules).
  • Experience with Copado (deployments, Git branching, Robotic Testing).
  • Familiarity with Azure DevOps or similar Agile tools.
  • Proficient in Apex, SOQL, LWC, and integration patterns (REST/SOAP APIs).
  • Experience with data quality, preference centers, and campaign management.
  • Strong communication and cross-functional collaboration skills.
  • Advanced knowledge of software development methodologies (e.g., Agile, Waterfall).
  • Strong proficiency with data manipulation language including optimization techniques.
  • Strong understanding of normalized/dimensional data modeling principles.
  • Strong knowledge of multiple data storage subsystems.
  • Expertise in development languages including but not limited to: Java/J2EE, JavaScript, JSP, C/C++, HTML, XML, SQL, Windows, UNIX, and .Net.
  • Strong research skills.
  • Strong knowledge of industry and best practices in development.
  • Knowledge of using and developing applicable tool sets.
  • Ability to interface competently with other technical personnel or team members to finalize requirements.
  • Knowledge of test-driven development.
  • Ability to write and review portions of detailed specifications for the development of complex system components.
  • Ability to complete complex bug fixes.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the implementation and configuration of Salesforce Marketing Cloud, including Email Studio, Journey Builder, Automation Studio, and Preference Center.
  • Support development across Sales Cloud, including Pardot, Preference Center, Campaigns, Leads, Opportunities, Accounts, Contacts, Cases, and Activities.
  • Build and maintain Apex code, Lightning Web Components, Flows, and integrations with external systems.
  • Improve marketing workflows related to Pardot, Campaigns, Lead Management, and customer data quality.
  • Assist with legacy system migrations and refactoring older Salesforce components.
  • Manage development tasks and deployments using Copado CI/CD and Azure DevOps.
  • Apply best practices for metadata management, sandbox strategy, and Copado Robotic Testing.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve production issues across clouds.
  • Participate in Agile ceremonies, sprint planning, and technical discussions.
  • Successfully implement development processes, coding best practices, and code reviews.
  • Operate in various development environments (Agile, Waterfall, etc.) while collaborating with key stakeholders.
  • Resolve complex technical issues as necessary.
  • Keep abreast of new technological developments.
  • Design and work with complex data models.
  • Mentor less-senior software developers on development methodologies and optimization techniques.
